Come along to Walton Park on Sat 14th August for a free family fun day with over 50 activities to get involved in. Cage soccer, rounders, netball and volleyball are just a few of the sports on offer, or you can try your hand at Salsa, Zumba or Samba drumming. For the younger ones there’s a Teddy Bear’s Picnic, a magic show and the chance to pick up some circus skills, and the whole family can get involved in fun aerobics and Wii Fit contests. If you love to sing or want to sing, this summer school will be the perfect opportunity to work in a group exploring singing in harmony, improvisation and performance skills. Over 2 weeks you will learn many different songs from African to R’n’B and contemporary pop and hip hop, including workshops with AfroReggae. At the end of the summer school friends and family will be invited to come along and watch you perform.

 

 

 

 

 

Liverpool theatre company The Suitcase Ensemble are looking for twenty local people to join them in a brand new arts project at Metal’s newly refurbished space for art at Edge Hill Station this autumn. ‘Sound Tracks’ is an opportunity for people with an interest in drama, music, dance, design or even puppetry- regardless of experience or qualifications- to learn new artistic skills over twelve weekly evening sessions and create an original performance which will be premiered at the station.

AfroReggae are from the favelas of Brazil, where gun crime and drugs are commonplace. Their weapons of choice are drums not guns and their music, dance and energy have inspired an international cultural movement. The AfroReggae band have played with Michael Franti, Asian Dub Foundation, Estelle and have supported The Rolling Stones. Now, nine of their talented artists and performers together with three dancers from Northern Ireland's Bad Taste Cru are coming to Liverpool for a 4-week residency over the summer.
